NEUROSPINAL SURGEONS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA IS A WORLD SPINE BODY FORMED BY THE INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED DR PS RAMANI. IT IS AN ASSOCIATION OF SPINAL SURGEONS INVOLVING BOTH NEUROSURGEONS AND ORTHOPOEDIC SURGEONS WHO ARE INTERESTED AND DOING SPINE RELATED PRACTICE. THIS IS A VERY NOVEL ASSOCIATION AND DOES NOT BELONG TO ANY ONE SPECIALITY AS IS USUALLY THE CASE. HERE BOTH NEUROSURGEONS AND ORTHOPEDIC SURGEONS COME UNDER ONE UMBRELLLA OF SPINE SURGEONS.

THIS ASSOCIATION IS GROWING VERY FAST WITH ALREADY 300 LIFE MEMBERS BOTH INVOLVING NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SPINAL SURGEONS. DR RAMANI HAS APPOINTED DR JOHN EBNEZAR, A NOTED ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON FROM BANGALORE AS THE PRESIDENT OF THE NSSA KARNATAKA CHAPTER. DUE TO HIS UNTIRING WORK IN PROPAGATING SPINE SURGERY DR RAMANI HAS BESTOWED THIS HONOR UPON JOHN EBNEZAR. HE IS THE ALUMNI OF DR PS RAMANI SPINE SCHOOL.

VARIOUS ACTIVITIES OF NSSA
NSSA is involved in propagating high level training to the orthopedic and neursurgeons about the latest developments in the speciality. It is organising Annual Conferences involving faculty from all over the world. It is conducting regular cadaveric training workshops in various centers across India. It is bringing out a high quality NSSA Journal which is indexed in certain parts of the World. Apart from this it is providing travelling fellowships to young surgeons across India and abroad.

1.1: SPINE 2011 - INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF NSSA AT BANGALORE​​​

Dr John Ebnezar was instrumentalin organising the first Annual Conference of the NSSA at Bangalore. When he mooted this idea to Dr Ramani,he readily agreed and he made him the chairman of this conference and suggested to make Dr Thimappa Hegde, a noted Neurosurgeon from the Naryana Neurosciences as the President. Together they formed an excellent team with Dr Komal Prasad as the Organising Secretary. They conducted a very successful conference in Bangalore at Hotel Chancery Pavilion and the Cadaveric Workshop was held at Bangalore Medical College from Sept 9th to 11th 2011. The conference was attended by over 300 delegated from all over India and the world. This conference was a huge success and the highlight of the conference was the Cultural Program spearheaded by Dr John Ebnezar, who is an excellent singer and they conducted a Music Program paying tribute to the Late Shammi Kapoor.
The Other hihglight of Dr John Ebnezar was his excellent talk on HOW TO KEEP YOUR BACK FIT. This talk was very widely appreciated by both the National and International audiences and in fact they suggessted that this talk should have been kept in the Inaugural Function of the Confernece and not in a sscientific program as such was the wide influence of the talk on everyone. It highlighted the need for everyone to keep their back fit and not rush to the sugeons at the last minute to fix and mend their backs.His other talk that was widely acclaimed was on the Lumbar Disc Surgeries, the past,present andfuture. This talk was also widely appreciated by the aidence for its novelty.
 
Dr John Ebnezar also presented a poster on the ROLE OF YOGA IN THE TREATMENT OF COMMON BACK ACHE. This showcased his original research conducted by Dr Yogitha Bali involving Yoga in the treatment of Lowbackache. This posted also garnered lots of interest from the delegates.
CULTURAL PROGRAM BY DR JOHN EBNEZAR

THE OTHER HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE CONFERENCE WAS THE FELICITATION OF DR JOHN EBNEZAR BY DR PS RAMANI FOR HIS ESTABLISHING A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD IN BOOK WRITING. THE WHOLE AUDIENCE GAVE A STANDING OVATION TO DR JOHN EBNEZAR FOR THIS EXTRAORDINARY FEAT NEVER DONE BEFORE BY ANY SURGEON IN BOOK WRITING.
 

A PROGRAM WAS ORGANISED BY THE VAIDYA KALA RANGA OF BANGALORE OF WHICH DR JOHN EBNEZAR IS THE PRESIDENT. VARIOUS DOCTORS OF THIS ASSOCIATION PERFORMED SHOWING CASING INDIAN CULTURE AND TRADITION. THIS PROGRAM WAS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED ESPECIALLY BY THE INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCES.
 
DR JOHN EBNEZAR WHO IS THE HEAD OF THE INSPIRATION GROUP PERFORMED A LIVE MUSCIAL PROGRAM ON SHAMMI KAPOOR THAT HAD THE AUDIENCES SINGING TO HIS TUNES AND WAS VERY WIDELY APPRECIATED BY THE DELEGATES. IT WAS A RARE INSTANCE WHERE IN A SURGEON CONDUCTED A MUSIC PROGRAM OF SUCH HIGH STANDARDS IN A VERY PROFESSIONAL MANNER.

SPINE 2012 - INTERNATIONAL CONFERFENCE OF NSSA (NEUROSPINAL SURGEONS ASSOCIATION).
This was held from 13th to 16th September 2012 at Hotel Le Royal Meridian, Chennai. Dr John Ebnezar delivered a Talk on RECENT ADVANCES IN THE TREATMENT OF CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS. This is a very common problem among global public. The treatmebt for this degenerative condition is far from satisfactory. The Conservative Treatment done is inadequate and the recommended surgical treatment like discectomy,corpectomy,fusion and cervical disc replacement are very aggressive surgical treatment methods. And moreover thanks to the present day stressful life styles among young generations, cervical spondylosis has started showing up in very young population. In this group none of the treatment methods of the conventional diseases are effective. Dr John Ebnezar's NECK REHAB PROGRAM is an excellent treatment concept not only in younger generations but in all varieties of cervical spondylosis. This talk was very greatly appreciated by all the neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons and it was said that this treatment concept of Dr John Ebnezar is certainly need of the hour and needs to be popularised widely all over the country.

DR PS RAMANI,HAS APPOINTED DR JOHN EBNEZAR AS THE ASSOCIATE EDITOR OF THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS JOURNAL OF NEUROSPINAL SURGEONS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA ALONGWITH OTHER LUMINARIES. HE IS THE ONLY ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON TO BE IN THIS ELITE GROUP. DR JOHN EBNEZAR IS A WELL KNOWN NAME IN THE FIELD OF WIRITNG AND HE HAS SINGLY AUTHORED NEARLY 150 BOOOKS IN THE FIELD OF ORTHOPEDICS SO FAR. THIS IS THE HIGHEST IN THE WORLD. HE ALREADY HAS TWO WORLD RECORDS IN WRITING,GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS IN 2011 AND ANOTHER WORLD RECORD IN 2012. HE IS A REVIEWER OF THE INDIAN JOURNAL OF ORTHOPEDICS (IJO) AND HAS BEEN ON THE EDITORIAL BOARD OF THE JOURNAL FOR LONG.
