JOHN'S ORTHOPEDIC CENTER (JOC)
A SUPERSPECIALITY ORTHOPEDIC CENTER

THIS IS THE ORTHOPEDIC WING OF PARIMALA HEALTH CARE SERVICES,WHICH IS A 9001:2008 CENTER.
DR JOHN EBNEZAR IS PIONEER IN THE TREATMENT OF OA KNEES. ARMED WITH A PHD IN OA KNEES,HE HAS DEVELOPED MOST INNOVATIVE NON-SURGICAL TREATMENT METHODS FOR TREATING ALL VARITIES OF OA KNEES. PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WISH TO UNDERGO KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY CAN NOW SAFELY OPT FOR HIS TKR-M WHICH IS RESEARCH BASED AND HAS A HIGH CALIBER SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE IN THE FORM OF 6 RESEARCH PUBLICATIONS IN VARIOUS INTERNATIONAL PEER REVIEWED SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS.

HIS FAMOUS SLOGANS WITH RESPECT TO THE TREATMENT OF OA KNEES ARE:

"WE DO WHAT OTHERS DO AND WE ALSO DO WHAT OTHERS DON'T DO"

"WE REPLACE KNEES IF WE HAVE TO AND WE RESTORE KNEES WHEN WE DONT HAVE TO"

"WE REPLACE KNEES LIKE OTHERS AND WE RESTORE KNEES UNLIKE OTHERS"

HE ALSO HAS VERY EFFECTIVE RESEARCH BASED SCIENTIFIC TREATMENT OPTIONS FOR OTHER PUBLIC HEALTH RELATED COMMON ORTHOPEDIC PROBLEMS LIKE LOWBACKACHE,NECK PAIN, OSTEOPOROSIS AND SHOULDER PAIN.
IN FACT HE IS THE FIRST PERSON IN THE WORLD TO TRY ADVANCED YOGA THERAPY IN THE TREATMENT OF FRACTURES AND SHOWED THAT INTERVENTION OF ADVANCED YOGA THERAPY SHORTENS FRACTURE HEALING TIME BY NEARLY 2-3 WEEKS THEREBY AIDING IN EARLY REHABILITATION OF FRACTURES, A GREAT BOON IN TODAY'S FAST PACED LIFE.

  7. INDIVIDUALISED MULTIMODAL THERAPY - FOR REPETITIVE STRESS INJURIES (RSI)

1 Modern Orthopedic Surgeries-Arthroplasties

1.1.TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT (TKR)-UNCEMENTED

This surgery has emerged as a great boon to patients with end stage osteoarthritis and terminal arthritis due to Rheumatoid Arthritis,Inflammatory Arthritis,Secondary osteoarthritis of the knee etc. Uncemented TKR is indicated in younger patients.
However this procedure is indicated only in about 5% of the cases of end stage severe a rthritis.
The high cost is prohibitive.
But in JOC the cost of TKR is nearly 30-40% less as compared to a Corporate Hospital.
Here is the bird's eyeview of the Uncemented THR surgical steps done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only.

STATE BY STAGE TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT - FROM PREPARATION TO CLOSURE
1.2 UNICOMPARMENTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT

This surgery is indicated in patients with singe compartment end stage osteoarthritis and terminal arthritis due to Rheumatoid Arthritis,Inflammatory Arthritis,Secondary osteoarthritis of the Hip etc.
Here is the bird's eyeview of the Uncemented THR surgical steps done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only.

2.1 TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT - UNCEMENTED

This surgery is very useful in patients with end stage osteoarthritis and terminal arthritis due to Rheumatoid Arthritis,Inflammatory Arthritis,Secondary osteoarthritis of the Hip,avasuclar necrosis of the hip etc.
However this procedure is indicated only in about 5% of the cases of end stage severe arthritis.
Here is the bird's eyeview of the Uncemented THR surgical steps done at our center from incision to closure and is indicated in younger patients. (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only.

2.2 TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT - CEMENTED

This surgery is similar to the Uncemented THR mentioned above.
But it is indicated more in older patients and bone cement is used to fix the acetabular cup and the femoral stem.
Here is the bird's eyeview of the Uncemented THR surgical steps done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only.

2.3 HEMIREPLACEMENT ARTHROPLASTY

In this surgery only half of the hip joint consisting of the femoral head and the neck is replaced while the other half of the hip consisting of the acetabulum is left behind.
It is mainly done in older patients with non union fracture neck of femur or in Avascular Necrosis. Here is the bird's eyeview of the Uncemented THR surgical steps done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only.

3.1 KNEE ARTHROSCOPY- PARTIAL OPEN MENISECTOMY

Arthroscopy is a key hole procedure and is increasingly being indicated in knee joint problems like a torn meniscus, torn ACL and PCL ligaments and of late even in fractures with the knee. Arthroscopy involves lesser size incision, less blood loss, lesser time for rehabilitation and faster return to activity.
Here is the bird's eye view of the Partial Meniscus Removal (Partly Open) surgical steps done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left).
This is for education purpose only.

3.2 KNEE ARTHROSCOPY- PARTIAL CLOSED MENISECTOMY

Arthroscopy is a key hole procedure and is increasingly being indicated in knee joint problems like a torn meniscus, torn ACL and PCL ligaments and of late even in fractures with the knee. Arthroscopy involves lesser size incision, less blood loss, lesser time for rehabilitation and faster return to activity.
Here is the bird's eyeview of the Partial Meniscus Removal (Completely closed) surgical steps done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left).
This is for education purpose only.

3.3 SHOULDER ARTHROSCOPY- ROTATOR CUFF REPAIR

Shoulder Arthroscopy is next common to Knee Arthroscopy.
It is being indicated of late for repair of the torn rotator cuff.
Here is the bird's eye view of the ROTATOR CUFF REPAIR surgical steps done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only.

3.4 OSTEOCHONDRITIS DISSECANS LEFT KNEE

Osteochondritis Dissecans is a rare condition affecting young adults. Here there is loosening and detachment of the articular cartilage with a chunk of bone commonly from the Non Weight bearing medial condyle of the femur. The exact cause of this conditions is still known. It is due to the cut of the blood supply to the cartilage due to some unknown reasons. This causes pain, swelling, limp and locking.
Arthroscopic removal is indicated in such situations and later multiple drill holes placed in the huge defect helps regrowth of the lost cartilage back. There is a threat of Secondary Osteoarthritis from developing early in life and patient should be warned about this possibility.
Here is the bird's eye view of the Arthroscopic removal of the loose bodies due to OCD and Multiple Drilling of the defect with K-Wire surgical steps done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only.

3.5 ACL REPAIR OF THE KNEE

Tear of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament of the knee is one of the most common indication for arthroscopic surgery. It is more common in active and sports persons. It makes the knee unstable and leads to future arthritis. Hence an Old ACL tear needs to be reconstructed using the avilable grafts around the knee. It is a highly advanced surgery and needs lots of expertise.

4.1 SPINE SURGERIES - PEDICLE SCREW FIXATION

Spine surgeries are complex and difficult surgeries.
Dr John Ebnezar has a fellowship in Spine Surgery and is specialised in all spine cases.
Here is the bird's eye view of the surgical steps of fixing the broken spine with pedicle screws done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left).
This is for education purpose only

4.2 SPINE SURGERIES - PEDICLE SCREW FIXATION for VERTEBRAL FRACTURES

This surgery is done to fix unstable spine fracture due to Spine Fractures.
Here is the bird's eyeview of the surgical steps of this major procedure done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only.

4.3 SPINE SURGERIES - OPEN LUMBAR DISCECTOMY

This surgery is done to remove the herniated or prolapsed intervertebral discs causing neurological impairments in the lower limbs.
However with the advent of Microscopic and Endoscopic procedures,Open lumbar disc removal is on the decline.
However the results of both the techniques are almost similar.
Here is the bird's eyeview of the surgical steps of this major procedure done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left).
This is for education purpose only.

5.1 INTERLOCKING SURGERIES - FEMORAL INTERLOCKING

This surgery is done to fix fracture of the shaft of the femur (thigh bone). The surgery is difficult and demanding. This is the gold standard surgery for femoral shaft fractures in adults. Here is the bird's eyeview of the surgical steps of this major procedure done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only.

5.2 INTERLOCKING SURGERIES - TIBIAL INTERLOCKING

This surgery is done to fix fracture of the shaft of the tibia (leg bone).
The surgery is difficult and demanding.
This is the gold standard surgery for tibial shaft fractures in adults.
Here is the bird's eyeview of the surgical steps of this major procedure done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only.

5.3 COMPLEX FRACTURES - PELVIC FRACTURES

This surgery is done to fix fracture of the ACETABULUM which is part of the pelvis and the hip joint. These fractures are due to high speed accidents and very complex and difficult to manage. The surgery is difficult and demanding and requires lots of experience and expertise.
Here is the bird's eyeview of the surgical steps of this major procedure done at our center from incision to closure (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only

5.3 COMPLEX FRACTURES - OPEN FRACTURES

Open fractures are grave emergencies in orthopedics. If not attended immediately it may lead to death of a patient and if not treated properly it may lead to future complications. These fractures need a multipronged approach different specialists like plastic surgeons, general surgeons etc. Here is a case of open fracture tibia managed staged wise with different operative procedures. (Clockwise from top left). This is for education purpose only.
