On the Face Book of the President of India – A Rare Honor
​
Dr. B.C.Roy National Award – the highest award in Medicine in the country is conferred to Padma Shri Dr. John Ebnezar. This was awarded to Dr. John by the President Of India on March 28th 2017. Dr. John is the first Orthopedic Surgeon and only the 12th Orthopedic Surgeon in the country from 1962 to get this honor.Statistics says it all. From the state of Karnataka (to which Dr. John belongs), only 5 doctors so far have been awarded with the prestigious Dr. B.C. Roy National Award. While it is a rarity to get such honor in one’s lifetime, Dr. John got both Padma Shri and Dr. B.C. Roy National Award in a single calendar year. This is unprecedented and unparalleled not achieved by any Dr. in India so far.
